Saturday-The great Adventure Begins!
I'm finally catching up on news from three weeks ago. LOL. Sorry y'all!
Saturday morning after breakfast, we girls started cleaning and talking of our plans for the weekend. The guy's and men gathered in the office whilst the mothers dressed and directed the little ones. The next moment the guy's had moved to the den and we heard a rumor that they were planning a relief trip to New Orleans! We girls crowded into the den squeezing into every crook and cranny to ascertain what plans were being made. To our surprise they were indeed planning a trip for that very afternoon! In the midst of the discussions, The Lummus and Sanders families arrived. The walked in expecting to find us fellowshipping and were soon informed of the mens plans. After hearing of our plans, Mr. Lummus and his two sons, and Mr. Sanders and his son Noah decided to join the group. The men talked through various plans and then we had a joint prayer asking The Lord for his guidance to direct the men in their plans. As soon as the Amen sounded we girls hurriedly gathered in our kitchen to discuss a game plan for sending food to feed the men. We started a sandwich assembly line whilst a few other girls and I gathered food from the coolers and baskets to add to the stockpile. In the meantime, the guy's went outside to work on adjusting Mr. Reeds trailer to accommodate the relief supplies. They built side rails and did a few other things and then started off on a massive shopping trip to Bjs. For those who are unformiliar with Bjs, it is a bulk retail store like Sams Club or Cosco. After we had packed boxes of food and filled coolers we girls joined our mothers on the back porch for a cup of delightful Tea that Miss Ivis had made. It was slightly warm so Miss Dorothy and I attempted to make homemade ice cream. After mixing up two batches we searched in vain for any males to assist in the freezing process. Upon finding none I left the task to Miss Dorothy as she is the queen of ice cream making! It turned out wonderfully and everyone enjoyed the refreshing dessert. Towards the end of the afternoon I asked the girls if they would not like to join me in an adventure.
