A visit with Miss Ivis!

Friday morning we were graced with the presence of Miss Ivis Lummus and her father. Her two brothers had journeyed up here for the purpose of spending a day with Alan, to learn about the ropes of the business. We girls asked if Miss Ivis could accompany them and viola! Upon having guests and it also being Mama's birthday, we girls set out to make a pretty meal. Miss Ivie and Rachel offered their assistance and we prepared: steaks, potatoes, peaches, fresh made bread and butter from the Ivis, corn that Mr. Lummus and the little boy's shucked, and a salad! Yumm! Thanks girlies for all of your help preparing the meal! I enoyed the kitchen chatter. LOL. After lunch Daddy and Mr. Lummus headed off to a doctor's appointment whilst we girls made icing for mama's chocolate cake. It turned out pretty well thanks to Miss Ivie's sifting of the powdered sugar. LOL. When the Daddy's returned we served cake, sang happy birthday, and then we girls huddled around the computers where we exchanged favorite websites, discussed different patterns, and then to my delight! Miss Ivis demonstrated an 1860's hair style!! We then made various attempts at lodging precariously a hair snood atop Rachies hair and, well.... you girls can guess.LOL. We then taught Ivie the "Duke of Kent" so that she can practice before Labor Day. Her brothers arrived amidst our watching the horrible old version of P&P (not the wonderful A&E version) and we then bid the Lummus' farewell!

Oh my, yes! LOL ;) It took me a while to get the hang of it. You converted me, dear Kress! I'm now a sifter lovin' cook! I'm going buy a sifter or two for our kitchen and hope that nobody takes it out to the sand pit THIS time!!! lol I can't believe all this time Mama and I've made cakes WITHOUT a sifter. . . It's now unthinkable to me.

I really enjoyed visiting with you dears!!! It was fun!!! I can't wait for next weekend! :)
