This past weekend for the 4th, the Morton's graciously invited us down to their house for a weekend of adventures and fellowship. Also to join the party were the Plaths+Davis's+ The Campana family=excitement!!! I jumped up a 4am on Saturday and started gathering everything together and cooking breakfast. With the help of Rachie loading the truck, and Beths general cleanup, and dog duties; we climbed into the truck for the 3 1/2 hour drive to Moultrie. Daddy had worked until 12am and mama was equally tired so I volunteered to drive. Arriving at the Morton's we were greeted with their usual eager energy which makes you feel right at home!!! I joined the girls in the kitchen as thankfully the guy's carried in all of our things. We cleaned up the the remains from breakfast and then set to work on preparations for a Tea! Miss Alyssa and her sister miss Moriah Campana helped me make these lovely cucumber sandwiches with their mothers recipes as Miss Dorothy cut a fresh bouquet of lovely wild flowers and blackberries for the table. With all of the wonderful help from all the sweet girls and lively chatter we soon had everything in preparation. We then dashed upstairs and dressed adding to our attire hat's of course. LOL. We then enjoyed the sweet aroma of friendship as we talked leisurely over our tea and dainty sandwiches. Mrs. Morton's mother joined us whilst her husband joined the guy's and Mr. Morton and Daddy outside. Our Tea conversation covered a wide and interesting spectrum from tales of Mr. Magoo, to various past adventures of the families present. Between silly imitations of Mr. Magoo and the near shooting of the guy's weapons, we had a most enjoyable time!!!
That afternoon we girls gathered around the piano as Rachie, Beth, Wesley, Cleveland, and Michael, entertained us with their beautiful musical talent! Then to our surprise and great enjoyment miss Katie played a lovely song that she had composed. I sat back and admired everyone's great talent taking pictures whenever possible.
That evening the adults went out for dinner and left all the little youngun's in our care. It was pouring rain and we girls were just itching to get out to enjoy the cool rain as it had been a rather warm day. The guy's unexpectedly came to our rescue and called all the little kids in who had been instructed to stay dry. We then dashed out behind the barn to admire the girls extensive garden and to chat about all sorts of things. LOL. The only thing that was lacking were the others girls inside who were not able to share in our adventure. We wished mightily that y'all could have joined us and we were thinking of you!
