The Barn Dance

Sunday afternoon found us young ladies in the kitchen contemplating a large pot of watery hot chocolate. We had previously made a successful batch 'bout 10 minutes earlier which the little ones had drained in about 5 minutes. Seeing how much everyone had enjoyed it we decided to whip up another batch; only, we had run out of milk. Thus the watery and untasty mixture. As we sat musing Mama came to our rescue with a HUGE bag of dry milk and we made two more batches that were a hit! We carried the remains down to the camp fire that the bigger guy's had started. As we were gathering our gaiety and fire were both squelched by an unexpected torrent of rain. We rushed for the safety of the barn where amongst the den of a few dozen children on a sugar rush ran 'round in circles shooting each other. LOL. Then to add to the noise and chaos, a youngster suggested that we dance The Virginia Reel. After making two relatively straight lines of squirming young'un's I started the cd and away we danced like a bunch of crazy monkeys!
Mrs. Morton arrived on the scene and suggested including the older guy's who were kinda feeling left out. The guy's grabbed their sisters and the dance took on a little more structure. I called out the dance which ended up to be the best spot of observation as partners struggled to meet the others expectations of speed! LOL. (I saw many close calls with the barn poles that couples were dancing around. LOL) I think that I will have to give praise to the young men for their, let's say; "Energy level"
